At approximately 2,300 meters above sea level in Copey de Dota, Copey Estate Winery has developed a distinctive high-altitude wine experience in one of Costa Rica’s most remarkable mountain agricultural regions.
From the vineyard to the glass
The guided experience introduces the estate, its high-altitude vineyards and the production process behind its wines. The property also works with uchuva (goldenberry), the fruit behind Golden Rush, a distinctive liqueur produced in Copey.
A premium Los Santos experience
The tour combines mountain scenery, viticulture, production knowledge and tasting. It is an excellent complement to a Los Santos itinerary focused on specialty coffee, gastronomy, birdwatching and highland landscapes.
Golden Rush — the goldenberry spirit of Copey
Golden Rush is an important part of the Copey story. The project began in Copey de Dota in 2009 at approximately 2,300 meters above sea level, where goldenberries (uchuva) are grown in the mountain environment. Golden Rush describes itself as a pioneer of the world’s first goldenberry liqueur, developed after more than five years of testing. The product uses the fruit’s naturally extracted flavors and is part of the distinctive beverage experience associated with Copey Estate Winery.
